Coming In: Inclusive Practice Strategies for People from Refugee Backgrounds

Topics covered include strengths, vulnerabilities, and the risks experienced in home countries, during the journey and resettling in Australia. The workshop will highlight the multiple oppressions faced by LGBTIQA+ refugees, and explore the diversity of needs and experiences that are grouped under the LGBTIQA+ framework.
The Coming In workshop will increase awareness of assumptions and biases that may negatively impact on the provision of effective assistance. Coming In aims to enhance the experience of services for LGBTIQA+ clients, to become safer and more welcoming for all.
