STTARS is a not for profit organisation committed to providing high quality person-centred services. For over 25 years we have been providing counselling and support services for people who have experienced torture or trauma as a result of war, political violence or persecution in their country of origin or while fleeing those countries. STTARS is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Finance Officer to join our team.

Your Role

The Finance Officer has primary responsibility for duties including payroll, MYOB, balance sheet reconciliations, preparation and submission of GST, data entry with Excel, payment of accounts, invoicing, insurance compliance, preparation of financial reports and other tasks as required.

Our ideal candidate is extremely organised, displays initiative and has proven experience as a bookkeeper or accounts payable/receivable officer.

Your attention to detail is flawless; you will have well-developed analytical skills, you will be willing to support the management team as well as wider organisational operations and can positively demonstrate your ability to work well within a team and in an autonomous environment.

The Finance Officer will be responsible for:
  • Managing the organisation's finances in an effective and efficient manner in accordance with the organisation's policies, procedures and practices
  • Providing financial support and advice to the management team
  • Accurate data entry of financial information for all accounts payable and receivable processes
  • Monitoring and review of debt collection
  • Coordinating and manage efficient processes for EFT payments
  • Managing and maintaining an efficient process that enables systematic and organised filing for all documents
  • Building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Completion of Acquittals for all grant funding
  • Supporting the management team in any ad hoc or internal projects as required
Must have a demonstrated track record of exemplary honesty, integrity and confidentiality in all aspects of this role.

To be considered for this position it is essential that you have:
  • 2-5 years proven experience in an Accounts and Finance role
  • Formal qualifications in bookkeeping and/or equivalent experience, expertise and competence sufficient to perform the role at this level.
  • Worked autonomously with high level of accountability
  • Proven experience in maintaining and processing of payroll
  • Proven experience in the preparation of financial statements and reports
